Tips for Photo ID Cards

We supply a number of ID card printers and bureau printing options to facilitate photo ID cards, here are some tips to get you thinking:

Tips for Photo ID CardsPhoto Backdrop

Make sure you choose a coloured back ground that compliments the colours of your card. For example; if you have a mainly blue design try to stay away from green backgrounds. Most people choose to go with a white wall. Whilst this is normally safe with darker designs and intricate designs it may be worthwhile (if you have the talent) having the backgrounds completely removed from each portrait.

It seems obvious, make sure you have the correct spelling for each name and the rest on the text.

Broadcast it

Make sure everyone is pre-warned that it is picture day! So that guys can have a shave and ladies are happy with their pictures, after all these are with them daily and if unhappy it will be a daily irritant.

Make sure you have the names the right way around. In larger companies, it is almost impossible to know everyone. An entry like: Harvey David may be an error! Always best to check the data you have is correct.

Image sizing

Make sure to be uniform in your image sizing, make sure that the file you upload isn’t too large or too small and not too high resolution or low, as this can cause blurry pixilation.

More than one shoot

It can be impossible to find a day in the year where no one in the company is off on holiday, illness or working away from the office. By scheduling multiple shoots you should be able to schedule everyone in.

Don’t be tempted to squeeze a lot of text on the card. Decide what is important and stick to the minimum these are security ID tags, so need to be readable at a glance from a distance.

Think Practicalities

How will these be worn? What will suit your environment best? Common solutions are lanyards and card holders, if you use these photo ID Cards for access purposes you may want to consider a Yo-yo or Lanyo option to allow ease of use. In a manufacturing environment, you may want to consider armbands or clothing clips so the cards don’t get in the way.
