About hellomynameis Name Badges
Every badge in this range carries the logo and words behind one of the NHS’s best-known patient care campaigns. Dr Kate Granger, an elderly care doctor, started #hellomynameis in 2013 with her husband Chris Pointon. She had been admitted to hospital, and many of the staff treating her never introduced themselves. Kate died in 2016, and Chris has carried the campaign forward ever since. Healthcare staff in NHS trusts, hospitals and GP surgeries across the UK now wear the hello my name is badge as part of their commitment to compassionate care.
Why a Name Badge Helps Patients
A patient who is anxious, hard of hearing or living with dementia can easily miss a spoken introduction. A badge lets them read the name, and read it again later when they want to remember who they spoke to. Adding a job title answers the next question most patients have: is this my nurse, my doctor or someone else?
Choosing the Right Badge
Acrylic domed badges have a metal back with a protective resin dome over the print, so they hold up to daily wear on a busy shift. Plastic badges come in four sizes, from 76 × 25mm up to 76 × 51mm, and the pronoun versions add a line for the wearer’s pronouns. Window badges leave space for staff to write their own name, which works well for bank staff, students on placement and anyone who needs a badge at short notice. Yellow volunteer domed badges make volunteers easy to pick out on a ward or at a front desk.
Pin or Magnetic Fitting
