Scalable, Flexible Licensing

Designing and Issuing Cards Made Simple

Every organisation that issues ID cards faces the same core challenge: getting accurate cardholder data, a professional card design, and the right printer all working together reliably. Add in staff changes, multi-site teams, access control requirements, or the need to issue a digital ID alongside physical ones, and the process can quickly become harder to manage than it needs to be.

CardExchange is built around these challenges. Whether you need a straightforward desktop tool to design and print cards for a small team, a cloud-based platform that lets you manage credentials across multiple sites without local infrastructure, or dedicated design software for retail label and price tag production, there is a CardExchange product built for that specific job. Each solution is intuitive enough to get started quickly, flexible enough to grow with your organisation, and compatible with the hardware and systems you already have in place.

CardExchange Software

ID Card Centre stocks the full CardExchange range. Here is an overview of the three products available, each designed to solve a different set of card production and credential management challenges.

CardExchange® Producer

Desktop ID card design and printing software

CardExchange® Producer is Windows-based ID card management software available in five different editions, from the entry-level Go edition for small teams through to Enterprise for organisations that need advanced card encoding and Active Directory integration. Each edition installs on your desktop and works directly with your compatible ID card printers, giving you full local control over your card designs, cardholder database and print output. If you are looking for the best ID card software for straightforward, on-premise card production, Producer is the place to start.

CardExchange® Cloud Suite

Cloud-based credential management for organisations of any size

Cloud Suite is a modular, cloud-hosted platform that covers the full lifecycle of a credential, from initial card design and cardholder enrolment through to issuance, access management and eventual deactivation. Built on Microsoft Azure, it supports both physical cards and digital ID credentials, with no local server required and pricing based on the number of records you manage. The suite includes separate applications for ID card production, visitor management, data connectivity and single sign-on, so you only add the functionality your organisation actually needs.

CardExchange® PriceTag

Price sign, tag and label design software for retail environments

CardExchange® PriceTag is dedicated label design software built for retail and food service settings. It uses the same intuitive CardExchange interface to design and print price signs, shelf labels and product tags, with support for allergen information, 2D barcodes and unlimited label designs. A database keeps all your label data organised so that last-minute price changes are quick to make and easy to manage. This software offers an affordable, professional solution for any retail environment that needs consistent, high-quality print production.

How CardExchange Works Alongside Your Existing Systems

Moving to new card software does not mean replacing everything that already works. CardExchange has been built to connect directly to your current infrastructure, whether that is a door access system, an HR database, or the ID card printers you already have.

Access Control Integration

CardExchange connects with leading access control systems including HID and SALTO, so cards issued through the platform work with the readers and access points you already have installed. Card encoding is handled directly within the software, so there is no need for a separate encoding step or additional hardware.

ID Card Printers

CardExchange is compatible with a wide range of ID card printers from Zebra, Evolis, Magicard, HID Fargo and other leading manufacturers, so your existing hardware investment does not need to change when you upgrade your software solution.

Database & HR Integration

Cardholder data can sync automatically with internal databases, HR platforms and other data sources, keeping records accurate without duplicate entry across separate systems. CardExchange Producer supports connectivity to MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL and more, depending on the edition. Cloud Suite connects via Bridge, its dedicated data synchronisation application.

Single Sign-On & Active Directory

CardExchange Producer Enterprise supports Active Directory read and write via LDAP, making it straightforward to manage user profiles against your existing directory. Cloud Suite includes CardExchange Secure, a single sign-on service that lets staff access all suite applications using one trusted login, reducing the number of separate accounts your IT team has to manage and improving overall efficiency.

The Systems CardExchange Already Integrates With

CardExchange has been designed to work with the technologies organisations already rely on, including:

  • Zebra, Evolis, Magicard and other leading ID card printers
  • HID and SALTO access control systems
  • Active Directory and LDAP
  • Microsoft Azure
  • HR and student management databases
  • MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, PostgreSQL and ODBC sources
  • REST API for custom integrations

Frequently Asked Questions

What is CardExchange?

CardExchange is an ID card design and management platform available as desktop software or as a cloud-based suite. It covers the full lifecycle of an ID card, from initial card design through to printing, card encoding, issuance and eventually deactivating a credential when it is no longer needed. ID Card Centre stocks the complete CardExchange range, including all five Producer editions, Cloud Suite and PriceTag.

What is the difference between CardExchange Producer and Cloud Suite?

CardExchange® Producer is downloadable desktop software for Windows operating systems, available in five editions each offering different levels of database connectivity, encoding and network licensing. Cloud Suite is a separate, cloud-based platform that adds remote access, digital ID credentials and multi-site management on top of the same core card design and printing capability, without requiring local installs or a dedicated server.

Which CardExchange® Producer edition is right for me?

The CardExchange® Producer Go edition is an entry-level option suited to small organisations with basic card printing needs. The Premium edition adds external database connectivity and signature capture. Professional adds native SQL connectivity and advanced data management. Business adds network licensing, HID proximity encoding and MIFARE Classic support. Enterprise adds MIFARE DESFire EV1 and SAM AV2 card encoding, Active Directory integration and support for ID scanners and fingerprint readers. Our team can help you identify the right edition based on your specific requirements.

Can I issue digital and physical cards from the same platform?

Yes. CardExchange Cloud Suite supports both printed cards and digital ID mobile credentials, so you can issue a physical badge for one group of users and a digital ID for another, all managed from the same system.

Does CardExchange integrate with my access control system?

CardExchange works with a range of access control systems including HID and SALTO, so cards issued through the platform can be used with your existing readers and access points. If you are unsure whether your system is compatible, our team can check this before you buy.

Is CardExchange suitable for small businesses as well as large organisations?

Yes. The Go and Premium editions of CardExchange Producer suit small businesses with basic ID card needs, while Business and Enterprise add the network licensing and robust encoding capabilities required by larger teams. Cloud Suite is built to scale from a single site to a multi-location organisation throughout.

How does CardExchange pricing work?

CardExchange Producer is available as a one-off licence purchase, with five editions at different price points to reflect the functionality included. Cloud Suite uses a record-plan pricing model, so costs are based on the number of cardholder records you manage rather than a flat licence fee. PriceTag is also available as a one-off licence purchase.

Can I import data from an existing database or spreadsheet?

Yes. CardExchange Producer connects to external databases and can import cardholder data from Excel and CSV files from the Premium edition upward. Higher editions add native connectivity to MS SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL and other enterprise database platforms.

Can CardExchange be customised to my organisation's branding?

Yes. Card designs, label templates and workflows can all be tailored to your organisation, with support for your own logos, colours and card formats. CardExchange Producer supports standard CR-80 cards on the Go edition, with all card sizes available from Premium upward.
