Entrust Datacard Ribbon Types

Entrust Datacard offer four different types of ribbons, each with unique uses. Monochrome ribbons feature a single colour panel, which is ideal for printing blocks of text or line graphics. To produce detailed, colourful images, full colour YMCK ribbons use a minimum of four panels.

To add additional elements such as security features, specialist ribbons include UV patterns or scratch off panels. Retransfer ribbons are for use with retransfer printers, and are an essential layer that fuses the card design to the card surface.

Single Colour
Single Colour

Single colour ribbons feature only one colour panel, such as black, blue, red, gold, or even signature strip panels, and are ideal for adding text to your design.
Full Colour
Full Colour

Full colour ribbon feature a minimum of four panels – yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C), and black (K) – to produce detailed graphics such as colourful logos or photo ID.

Specialist ribbons include scratch off panels and UV overlays for additional security. Using specialist ribbons reduces the risk of card forgery and cloning.
Retransfer
Retransfer

Retransfer ribbons are a clear film that is used in the printing process before any colour is applied. They must be used for the process to work, but are required for retransfer printers.

High-Level ID Issuance

Entrust Datacard printers allow you to produce all levels of ID and membership cards, from low requirements to high-level issuance.

With a range of printer ribbons available for each model, you can easily create the ideal card design.

Routine Maintenance For Cleaner Prints

To improve the output of your printer and increase its lifespan, we strongly recommended running a cleaning cycle before inserting a new ribbon.

With dedicated maintenance kits designed to remove any dust and residue, you can ensure your printers are crystal clear every time.
