Our blank ID cards are the standard CR80 size (86mm x 54mm), the same size as a credit card. This is the universal size used by ID card printers, card holders and lanyard attachments across the industry, so compatibility is rarely an issue.
We do also stock other sizes to cater to all needs. So, if you aren't sure which size is right for your ID printer, please get in touch.
Micron refers to card thickness, and each suits a different use. 320-micron adhesive cards, for example, peel on and off, ideal for temporary badges, event passes or reusable card holders. 480 micron is a durable general-purpose choice for staff ID, membership cards and access control. 760 micron is our thickest, most durable option, best suited to daily-use ID cards that need to withstand heavy handling over years rather than months. If you're unsure, 760 microns is the safest all-round default.
Standard blank cards hold no embedded technology and are printed on directly. Smart cards contain a chip (such as MIFARE®) that stores data for access control, cashless vending or membership schemes, in addition to being printed like a standard card. So, blank ID cards can act as identification only, while smart ID cards can act as identification and access control across your site.
Our eco-friendly cards, made from plant-based plastics or recycled paper fibres, perform identically to standard PVC cards when printing and last for a year or more with daily use (depending on how they are treated) but decompose into compost within 3 to 6 months once disposed of, rather than persisting as landfill plastic.
No. You can order a single pack, though unit costs drop at higher volumes. Most of our blank cards are sold in packs of 100 as standard, with bulk pricing available for larger orders.
