The hellomynameis campaign aims to encourage and remind healthcare staff about the importance of introductions in healthcare, not just out of courtesy but to build trust, improve compassionate care and promote a better patient experience.
A premium 15mm wide, dye sublimation printed lanyard with the NHS Scotland and #Hello My Name Is logos. Complete with a health and safety breakaway and finished with a metal dog clip for attaching ID and / or access control cards.
Why "Hello My Name Is" Matters in NHS Scotland
The idea started with Dr Kate Granger, a hospital doctor treated for terminal cancer, who found that staff caring for her often didn't say who they were.
What's stuck since is the clinical case for it, not just the compassionate one: an introduction is part of person-centred care, the foundation that lets a patient or family member ask questions and engage properly with their own treatment, rather than a courtesy bolted on around it.
The Scottish Government backed this campaign with £40,000 provided directly to Scottish health boards to support the rollout. And with health boards across the country, including NHS Forth Valley and NHS Tayside, running their own local launches, hellomynameis ID cards, lanyards and badges have become an everyday practice in many medical facilities in Scotland.
