Magicard Ribbon Types
Magicard offer various types of printer ribbons to ensure your design is produced exactly how you want it to be. Used for printing text or single line graphics, monochrome ribbons have one colour panel. If you have vibrant design elements or photo ID, you will need a ribbon that consists of multiple panels of colour, known as a YMCK.
For additional security features or elements that aren't on a standard ribbon, specialist ribbons are ideal. If your printer uses retransfer technology, you must use a retransfer film prior to printing your colour design.
Single Colour
Single colour printer ribbons have a single panel, which can be black, red, blue, silver, gold, or other colours. Other single panel ribbons, such as scratch off, are also monochrome.
Full Colour
Full colour ribbons contain multiple separate colour panels – yellow (Y), magenta (M), cyan (C), and black (K). These colours combine to create colour designs.
Specialist
Add security features to your printed cards with specialist ribbons, such as Magicard's HoloKote® technology. This adds a layer of UV over your design to prevent forgery.
Retransfer
For Magicard retransfer printers, a base film is required. These add a layer between the card and the colour design, making them ideal for uneven surfaces or technology cards.

Routine Maintenance For Cleaner Prints
For prolonged lifespan of your printer and flawlessly printed cards, you should always run a cleaning cycle using a maintenance kit before inserting a new ribbon.
Maintenance kits are made specifically for the model of your Magicard printer, and are available in different formats to ensure that any dust and debris within your printer is removed.
