About Siemens Bewator / Cotag IB928 Active Cotag clamshell card
The Siemens IB928 is a factory-encoded active card which includes a lithium battery enabling hands-free functionality when it is used together with Cotag handsfree readers.
The combination of the IB928 card and the HF500-Cotag reader results in a card read range of up to 102 cm which is ideal for instances where the holder is disabled or where they may be carrying items which would prevent them from raising a card to the reader (for example in a hospital or warehouse).
The read range when the IB928 is used in combination with standard Cotag proximity readers varies is between 12 to 32 cm. One of the major advantages of Cotag technology is that both active and passive cards can be used on the same system to provide ultimate convenience and cost-efficiency. Note: The programmed card number is pre-printed on the back of the card.
