Elatec TWN4 MultiTech 2 BLE DT-9pol (Standard) Overview
The right Elatec TWN4 MultiTech 2 depends on the cards your site already uses. This standard version reads the most common 125kHz and 13.56MHz technologies, including MIFARE, DESFire, EM and HITAG, plus NFC and Bluetooth Low Energy, through a 9-pin RS-232 connection for host systems that use a serial port. It does not read HID Prox, so if any of your cards or fobs are HID Prox, choose the Elatec TWN4 MultiTech 2 BLE -P DT-9pol instead.

The TWN4 MultiTech 2 reads multiple technologies concurrently, and Elatec’s AppBlaster software lets you choose exactly which cards the reader responds to and how the output is formatted for your host system. It suits enrolment and identification on desks and kiosks across access control, time and attendance, PC login, vending, EV chargers, library management and locker systems.
The integrated BLE module works with Bluetooth-enabled Android and iOS phones, so the same reader can support mobile credentials alongside physical cards. Two onboard SAM sockets, PC/SC 2.01 support and in-field firmware updates give developers room to build secure, custom apps that run directly on the reader using Elatec’s SDK.
Because RS-232 doesn’t carry power, plan for a 5V external power supply at installation, such as Elatec’s PWA-UK3 for UK sockets. If your host has a USB port, the USB version of the TWN4 MultiTech 2 BLE draws power from the cable and needs no separate supply. Browse our full range of Elatec readers, or speak to our team if your cards use HID iCLASS SE or Seos, which need the PI option.
