Sites moving from older HID Prox cards to secure 13.56MHz smart cards rarely switch everyone over in a single day, so for a while both technologies are in use at once. Option P makes the Elatec TWN4 MultiTech 2 BLE a migration card reader, adding HID Prox and other legacy 125kHz formats to everything the standard version reads, so one desktop reader can enrol and identify old and new cards side by side during the changeover.

Also supported, as standard: all of the standard version’s 13.56MHz technologies, including MIFARE Classic and Classic EV1, MIFARE DESFire EV1 and EV2, MIFARE Plus, MIFARE Ultralight, NTAG2xx, Sony FeliCa, ICODE SLI, NFC Forum Tag Types 1 to 5 and LEGIC Advant (UID only), plus 125kHz technologies such as EM4100, EM4102, EM4305, HITAG 1, HITAG 2, HITAG S, AWID, Nedap and PAC.

If your site has no HID Prox cards or fobs, the standard Elatec TWN4 MultiTech 2 BLE DT-9pol covers the same HF, NFC and BLE technologies at a lower price. Option P doesn’t read HID iCLASS SE/SR/Elite or Seos data, which requires the PI option with a TWN4 SIO card, so speak to our team if your new cards are HID iCLASS.

Elatec’s AppBlaster software lets you set which technologies the reader responds to and how each card number is output, which matters during a migration when HID Prox and smart card numbers need to arrive at your host system in a consistent format. The BLE module adds support for mobile credentials on Bluetooth-enabled Android and iOS phones, and the SDK lets developers run custom apps directly on the reader, with two onboard SAM sockets for secure key storage.

The 9-pin RS-232 connection suits access control panels, kiosks and industrial host systems with a serial port, and it needs a 5V external power supply, such as Elatec’s PWA-UK3 for UK sockets.
