The Zenius 2 Classic uses D2T2 dye-sublimation and thermal transfer printing to produce full colour or monochrome cards at 300dpi, edge-to-edge, so logos and text stay sharp right to the border of the card. Full colour runs at up to 180 cards an hour, monochrome up to 700, on standard CR80 cards. The printer's technology is derived from Evolis's own Primacy 2 line, so the print quality here isn't a budget compromise at all; it's a scaled-down version of a proven, higher-end system.
The Evolis Premium Suite 2 driver, an updated driver with wizards and clear pop-ups, keeps setup and everyday operation genuinely easy rather than something only an IT department can manage. Setup takes a few minutes and is as simple as setting up a normal inkjet printer.
In daily operation, this printer is no more complicated to use than a standard printer either. Simply use the free ID-ALL card design software included to design your card templates, add the information the card needs, and hit print. In just a few seconds, you'll have an ID card ready for your staff or visitor.
There are two ways you can use this printer. Card-by-card insertion allows you to manually feed each card into the printer, which is handy if you only have a couple of cards to print at any one time. The input hopper can also hold up to 25 cards (the output hopper holds 50 cards), so if you're printing more than a few, these can feed the cards in automatically.
Evolis backs the Zenius 2 with a wide range of ribbons and card types, colour and monochrome ribbons, PVC, composite PVC, PET, paper, and rewritable cards, all tested under the Evolis High Trust standard for consistent print quality. Cleaning kits are also available to keep the printer running well over time, an easy way to protect your investment rather than an afterthought.
Please note: The Zenius 2 Classic cannot print a UV overlay over the top of your card. If this added layer of security is important to you, the Expert is the ideal printer for your needs, and it comes with additional security features like encoding.
The Zenius 2 card printer comes in two versions: the Classic and the Expert. The Classic handles design and printing really well, but it doesn't offer the option to encode cards, and it only connects to a single computer over USB rather than a network. If you need to encode access control cards (magnetic stripe, contact, or contactless), print from Android and iOS devices, or connect over Ethernet, the Evolis Zenius 2 Expert covers that instead. If none of that applies to you, the Classic offers the same core printing quality at 300 dpi as standard.
