About the HID Prox and Contact Smart Card Encoder​

HID Prox and Contact Smart Card Encoder (Omnikey Cardman 5125*) and Dual sided Printing Modules for FARGO HDP5000 Dual Sided Card printer only.

If your building runs on HID Prox access cards, this is the encoder module that lets your HDP5000 print and encode them in the same pass, rather than printing a card and sending it somewhere else to be encoded separately. This module (the Omnikey Cardman 5125) handles HID Prox and standard contact smart cards. If your organisation's access system runs on iCLASS or MIFARE/DESFire instead, this isn't the module you want, Fargo makes a separate one (the 5121) for that. Getting this right at the point of order matters: the wrong encoder means a card that looks perfect but won't open a single door.

Why encode inline instead of separately?

Printing and encoding as one step means no batch of cards sitting in a drawer waiting for a second machine to finish the job and no chance of a card being handed out before it's actually been encoded. For a busy reception or a security office issuing cards regularly, that's fewer steps and fewer places for something to go wrong.

Please Note:

This is a field-upgradeable module for the dual-sided HDP5000 specifically, it needs the dual-sided printer to use the contact smart card encoding side of what it does.
