HID Fargo Ribbon Types


HID Fargo ribbons are available in four variations, offering cost savings and reduced waste depending on your design. Monochrome ribbons feature only one colour panel, ideal for printing text or line graphics. For colourful, detailed images, full colour ribbons contain four different colour panels, heated to varying temperatures to achieve a range of hues.

Specialist ribbons such as holograms can be applied on top of your design to add security and reduce the risk of forgery, whilst retransfer film ribbons are an essential part of the printing process for retransfer printers.

Single Colour
Single Colour

For basic printing such as text or line art, single colour ribbons contain only a single colour panel. This can be white, black, green, silver, or any other colour.
Full Colour
Full Colour

If you are looking to add logos or a photo to your ID card design, full colour panels are ideal. They're made up of four panels (yellow, magenta, cyan and black).
Specialist
Specialist

To produce attractive features that double up as additional security, HID Fargo offer specialist ribbons such as holograms or UV printing. This reduces any risk of forgery.
Retransfer
Retransfer

If you have a retransfer printer, clear films must be used before printing colour designs. This is fused between the card surface and the design and is ideal for access control cards.

Routine Maintenance
For Cleaner Prints


For cleaner prints and improved conditions of your printer, you should use a maintenance kit after every ribbon runs out.

Maintenance kits are available in different formats, such as cards, pens or wipes, and are used to remove dust and debris that can impact your print quality.

This genuine FARGO Clear PolyGuard Overlaminate Film Cartridge, also known as an overlay film or laminate, adds a layer of security and protection to your cards preventing them from fading, everyday wear and tear and tampering.

The laminate is made from PolyGuard, a material that has been proven in tests to withstand approximately 50,000 swipes through a card reader such as a payment machine or door entry reader.
